Day 1 — Dublin → Tuolumne Meadows → Rafferty Creek camp
Drive in the morning. Start hiking after permits/parking. Camp partway up Rafferty Creek if the arrival is late; push higher only if weather and legs are good.
~3–5 mi hikingcamp near water
Best fit for: under 5 hours from Dublin, granite high country, near timberline, no off-road vehicle surprise. Fishing is integrated, not the whole reason to go.
Why it fits: classic Yosemite granite, high-elevation basins, no Jeeps beyond the road corridor, and multiple creeks to work into a 3-night trip.
Caveat: not a Sheep Crossing replacement. Expect smaller high-country creek water plus lakes, not a steep plunge-pool canyon.
Approximate planning profile: Tuolumne Meadows ~8,600 ft; Vogelsang area ~10,100 ft; return mileage depends on camp and creek scouting.

Climb into the high granite basin. Short fish/scout window around Fletcher Creek outlets/inlets if water is present and legal.

Use the layover day for moving water. Fletcher is the simpler scout; Lewis Creek is the better-looking drainage if making a longer loop toward Merced Lake.

Return via Rafferty Creek or complete a longer loop only if Day 3 confirmed the route is worth it.
